back in 1995 i got pregnant from my boyfriend, we were sexually active an he found out about a little wart in my private part( vagina) they were actually more than 5 warts. we went to a family doctor and he reccomended to wait after the weding to removed them with nitrogen. at this point a was 4 months pregnant. I got the treatment and on the year of 2000 i got a suspicious pap smear, so we went back to the doctor`s office and they did a biopsya and found out cells alterations; i got a treatment for it too. Now 2010 when to have my pap smear again . abnormal cell got the byopsia and the doctor did not reccomend treatment at this time. Need to mention that i go at least one time a year to get check just in case, last summer the papsmear was good, but last year on 12/2008 the same thing looks abnormal but second time at the doctors they said was ok. ok again. I`m worried now about waiting 6 months to go back and find i have cancer in the cervix. Do i have the right to ask for treatment, because it seems that is a mild thing, but it is inside already that is why im worried. [44746]

I contracted my first "cold sore" on my lip when I was about 8 years old. I have always gotten one or 2 per year since then. Recently, they have become more severe. 2 years ago I had a bad eye infection. I assumed it was pink eye so I went to get it checked. There was a small lesion on the corner of my eye. The doctor cultured it, HV1. Extremely painful and just gross to look at! It took some time to clear up, but anytime I have a flare up, I immediately see the ophamologist. This past week, I have the largest, most painful outbreak on my upper lip. After 8 days, I assumed the worst was over. I thought it was cleared up. Woke up this morning with the left said of my face numb. Scary! Went to the doctor and my HV1 had done into my facial nerve (the same side as my "bad" eye). Taking meds so it will go away and hopefully my eye won`t be affected with an outbreak. At least I now know that when I feel that oh-so-familiar tingling, to take it seriously and get it checked and get on meds ASAP. It now seems to be "linked" to my eye via that wonderfully affected facial nerve. Oh well...could be worse! [44745]

I dont know what type my Herpes is.It first appeared on my face,. under a plaster.After that I had regular facial out breaks all over my face not just around the lips. The Doctors gave me a course of smallpox vaccinations which didnt help when I was about 18yrs old. Throughout my 20s I used acyclovir cream which helped to shorten the outbreak.When I was about 35yrs I got a bad outbreak across my right buttock along the line of the sciatic nerve, I now get recurrent flare ups around this area and have one now, I now rarely get the sores on my face. I have tried using light therapy using a Bio stick and this does help to speed up the healing. My friend has suggested that I use L-Lycine with Zinc to try and boost my immune system and prevent outbreaks, I have just ordered some.I would be grateful for any advice you may be able to give. I have scarring now from my recurrent infections. [44744]

I was 16 years old when i found out I had herpes.My boyfriend at the time had cheated on me with a girl, and I didn`t know at the time he had.I was really good friends with this girl and I knew she had herpes, then he cheated on me with her and I contracted herpes.It is my fault for being so dumb as to have sex with him without protection, but after two years with being with someone you grow trust in them. It was on new years eve when I had started to get a headache, by four hours later I couldn`t get out of bed all I could do was vomit. The next day the vomiting was gone and I had gotten leisure on my privates. I immediately went to the doctor and I was tested and it was positive. I deal with this everyday of my life, and have missed out on a lot because of this but i have found the one person that understands, and hope to spend the rest of my life with!!!!! He also has herpes, and its almost like we were supposed to be together!!!!We dated a really long time before we actually had sex, and then I found out why, he had the same problem I did and now we are completely comfortable with each other! I don`t how I got herpes. My wife and I never had any partner before. We have been married for almost 10 years. Two years ago I had the outbreak from nowhere. I had no idea what it was. My doctor told me that it was herpes. Even my doctor was confused how I got infected while I was with my wife only. Anyway, life goes on and I’ve learned to live with it. I am 40 years old and contracted herpes during my Freshman year in college. I thought it was the end of my world at the time and now when I look back on all the years that I let it weigh on my happiness, I just want to scream! I hardly ever have outbreaks and when I do, they do not affect my life AT ALL!!! The only thing that has made this virus hard is the stigma associated with it. I was so scared to be rejected when I was younger and guess what 3 guys that I told didn`t think it was a big deal. Now I am older and I have had two healthy kids which I thought by the info out there would be hard, but it wasn`t at all for me. They didn`t contract it during delivery. All that worrying for nothing. And my husband of 17 years has never gotten it either. Unfortunately we are divorced now, mainly in part to this damn virus. No, not the severity of it at all, but the way I let it eat at my self esteem! All of you who have just found out, it is NOT a big deal at all. Put in perspective and don`t let it ruin your life. Many people have this and are not sluts etc... I have been single now for 2 years and have told 3 more guys and none of them care. Yes, there are ignorant people out there, but take a chance. I have found many people to be much less judgmental than I think I would have been if someone would have told me. And I even told one person who in turn told me they had it to. Don`t give up hope! This virus is a silent killer of souls if you let it, but don`t! Looking back I regret all the pain and worry I let it do in my life! [44737]

My outbreak is anal. One breakout per year, I feel like the lucky one after hearing of others stories. Presently I have it just on the skin around butt cheeks. Red, sore to touch, 1 small blister. No aches or other symptoms occure with breakout for me. I have on hand a 3 month supply at all times; 400 mg Acyclovir which is as 5 day treatment. [44733]

Ever since I have implemented the use of cannabis(daily smoking/ consumption), my outbreaks have greatly reduced. Not only does the use of this medicine reduce the number of outbreaks I have, it helps in cutting down the time in which the "shedding" process occurs. As soon as I realize a cold sore is developing I administer the use of acyclovir along with smoking cannabis. Although, this drug is not legal, I know very well of its medicinal benefits. I did not smoke cannabis until I was 20, and not regularly until 23. During my youth with this virus I did take acyclovir to stop "shedding" and help my skin appear normal again. As I took acyclovir to help my skin disease, I noticed that it takes a while for the blister to dry up then eventually heal, leaving the affected area appear as it did before the "cold sore attack". With acyclovir alone, it would take a minimum of 10 days from the time of the sore until my skin appeared normal again. However, issuing both smoking cannabis along with this prescription drug, my outbreak sometimes doesn`t even develop into a blister. Rather, as soon as I feel the tingling sensation and know when a cold sore is developing, I consume cannabis along with my prescribed dosage of acyclovir. The sore never has time to turn into a blister, as it fades into the healing process immediately. The affected area becomes dry, as always with acyclovir, but the recovery time back to normal skin is incredibly drastic. No more than 3 to 4 days after the onset of cold sore is my skin back to normal. Another reason to Legalize this great plant. I still don`t understand why it is classified as a schedule 1 drug, no medical value my ass... And if this website is true to the percent of people who have this disease, I am certain once each individual discovers the benefit of cannabis against this disease, our laws will change. But since we all are hiding behind closed doors, and no one likes to admit they have herpes in public, well good luck America, the truth will never be reveled.. [44732]

I recently went to the DR for an unrelated issue and found out that I have genital herpes. I was shocked because I have never had an outbreak. The lab tests to determine my diagnosis were only performed in order to rule things out. It is my understanding that the tests for HIV, shypillis and herpes are NOT routine tests and this is probably the first time they were ever done on me. Therefore, it is impossible to know how long I`ve had it. The DR said that I could have had it for 10 or 15 years and never knew it. This begs the question, "how many other people are there out there who have this virus and don`t even know it and have never been tested because they have never had any symptoms?" I think the statistics on this disease are probably grossly inaccurate because of this. It is really impossible to know how many people do have this, and therefore, probably way more common than we have been led to believe. My doctor told me that it is no more serious than having something like high blood pressure...it is manageable with medication. He said that as long as I take Valtrex daily, I will never have an outbreak and I will never pass it to someone else so it`s not necessary to even tell others about it if I don`t want to. I believe the stigma that has been attached to STDs is what makes this far worse in our minds than it really is. And all stigmas are born out of ignorance. The truth is most people who don`t have this disease or don`t know they have it have absolutely no knowledge about it. They just hear "herpes" and freak out. I know I did when I found out...until I read up on it and talked to my doctor. Please, people, stop freaking out and get informed. Take the medication to keep your immune system healthy and this virus has no chance. That is the key to this...making sure your immune system is doing its job to keep the virus from attacking. My doctor said that is why I have never had an outbreak even though I have been diagnosed with this...because my immune system has been doing its job. Hope this helps ease your mind if you have just found out you have herpes. It is really no worse than having a common cold...that too is contagious but we think nothing of it. It`s the fact herpes is spread through sexual contact and we are so sexually repressed in this society that we are ashamed to talk about it...which leads to ignorance, and thus, stigma. Remember that you don`t have to discuss this with the ignorant. I`m not. [44731]
